About organisation
he activity of The National Gerontological Association “Second Breath for Moldova” started in the framework of the Gerontology and Geriatrics Program for countries of South Eastern Europe by the Open Society Institute, New York. On the 30th of September 1998, just on the eve of the International Day of Older Persons, was opened the first in Moldova interdisciplinary gerontological centre for medical and social rehabilitation in Balti. At first the municipal organisation “Second Breath for the North of Moldova” was registered (April 1998), then in July 1999 The National Gerontological Association “Second Breath for Moldova” was officially registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova.
The National Public Association is activating in different directions working only with older people (Day Center programs, Home Care services) and involving them in the social life based on volunteer principles, training them the principles of care for older people, also is organizing training programs for professionals and older people.
The members of the Association, its national state or non-governmental as well as international partners and permanent collaborators are highly qualified, national, European and international experts.
